Friends of Alaska’s Children in Care (FACC) began as CASAs for Children in 1991. The non-profit organization was born when a generous CASA volunteer wanted to donate funds to support CASA volunteers and the children and youth that they serve. She discovered that the program, administered by the State of Alaska, Office of Public Advocacy (OPA), was unable to take her donation. As a result, CASAs for Children was formed to receive and distribute that generous donation.
Today, our organization, now operating as Friends of Alaska’s Children in Care, continues to collaborate with State and Tribal programs, raising funds to meet our shared goal of improving outcomes for children and youth in State and Tribal care. FACC provides vital support to the CASA program, helping it to advocate for children while augmenting state support with donations from the private sector.
