Once again, on November 26-27, 2021, a dedicated group of superb quilters donated 62 extraordinary quilts for the Friends of Alaska’s Children in Care 25th Annual Quilt Auction. And, equivalent to that, enthusiastic and faithful supporters attended our second online quilt auction and bid to their heart’s content! There were several major bidding rivalries with many quilts receiving well over 50 bids each; and one quilt selling for $1,505!

We received quilt donations from quilters in Alaska from the Aleutian Chain to Juneau, and many communities in between, as well as quilters from California, Colorado, Idaho, Texas and Washington. Our bidders were from Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Washington and, of course, various Alaska locales.
We are overcome with appreciation and overjoyed to let you know that $28,240 was raised this year, allowing us to maintain our commitment to provide services and assistance to Alaska’s most vulnerable youth throughout our State.
Thatcher King held the winning ticket for our exquisite raffle quilt, Alaskan Batik Sampler, generously and beautifully made by Sharon Swieter, a long-time donor to Friends of Alaska’s Children in Care, and machine quilted by Linda Rice-Weaver of Washington.
We are on track for our 26th Annual Quilt Auction next year, November 25-26, 2022. It will once again be an online auction. See you there!
