It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of
one of Friends of Alaska CASA’s most creative and generous quilters.
Kathy Bates of Great Falls, Montana, passed away a few days prior to
this years’ quilt auction.

Kathy began donating to our annual quilt auction in 2003 when she lived in Anchorage. Over the next 15 years, including this year, Kathy donated a total 67 quilts. Even after she moved to Montana, Kathy continued to mail us quilts, usually 4-5 every year. Kathy’s quilts were frequently in high demand and often among the top sellers in both dollars and bids.
Rest in peace, Kathy, you will be greatly missed, and we thank you for making a difference in the lives of many of Alaska’s youth.
